Geggan`s goal is points over crucial period

Captain Andy Geggan feels that the next few weeks are a crucial period of the season. His former club Dumbarton arrive at East End Park on Saturday equal on points with the Pars albeit the Fifers have two games in hand over them. He claims:-
"As long as we get results we can creep away from everybody. It is very tight and we cannot afford any slip ups."
Queen of the South follow the Sons to East End Park for a match on Tuesday and the following fixtures are against the teams in ninth and tenth place - Ayr United and St Mirren. Andy continued:-
"I would say that the next two or three weeks are the most important of the season for us. We have got to take confidence from the match against Hibs last Saturday. We will be more than up for the battle."
There is seven points between the Pars in sixth place and Queens in fifth. There is also seven points between the Pars and tenth placed St Mirren.
"We need to keep working hard, keep doing what we are doing and keep putting the ball in the net then we will be alright."
Andy has a good scoring record against his other former club, Ayr United but he has still to score any against Dumbarton, he said:-
"I would love to score against them. I was there for five years and the memories are good. We won the Third Division, that was a good year. I enjoyed it there, it was part time and that is hard but I was only a young boy and my fitness never really bothered me."
Andy feels that his side has recorded too many draws and these draws need to be turned into wins.
"Saturday was a massive three points that we lost out on. Nicky put a great chance over the bar and the Hibs keeper pulled off great saves as well. It is a good thing that we are creating the chances but we need to finish them off.
"After the first twenty minutes we picked up the game and getting the goal before half time turned the game. The second goal kept the momentum going into the second half. They were not really creating anything and that is the frustrating part."
The performance in matching Hibs was a huge improvement from the start of the season and it is frustrating that the start of this league campaign has seriously hampered the chances of securing a top four finish. Andy continued:-
"We had a sticky start to the season but we should be in the top four. We picked it up and I think we should finish strong. I know that we are a massive club but for our first year back in the Championship staying up this year is a great state to be in and we just need to build on that.
"What Jim Duffy is doing down at Morton is incredible. Who would have thought that at the start of the season? It took them a year to get going but they have kicked on. Hopefully we can do the exact same."
Andy Geggan has been through administration and every difficult situation possible at Dunfermline so he feels that no sort of criticism is going to annoy him.
"A fans point of view is totally different to a player`s point of view. Going from centre mid where you get up into the box to now playing at right back and playing every week against players who have the quality to run past you. It is quite hard to adjust. Obviously I am not going to score as many goals. My job is to try and create the goals by getting a cross in for a goal.
"Fans will be fans, they are the same at every club that I have been to. Listen that is what happens in football, you just need to take it on the chin and get on with it."
Geggs claims that he has a special understanding with Kallum Higginbotham.
"When we go down the line we know where each other are. You don`t even need to lift your head to pass it because you know he will be there and it is the exact same thing me with him."
